Under the Sea

Change of scene. Friday morning I woke up bright and early (10:00am), okay well not so early but 10:00am is really early for me in anticipation that I was leaving for Durban @ 12:00pm! Anyways got my stuck together and packed and waited. 12:00am came but didn't leave. Anyways long story short was stuck in Joburg and couldn't leave till something where sorted out. Guess what time that was done? Emm guess... yes! 9:00pm!! Just about 11hrs after I woke up! I was bored out of my head! So I just surfed the net and did some last minute Christmas Shopping at Sandton that afternoon!

Above: One door closes, and a car boot opens... The X5 which took us down!

Anyways packed to BMX X5 with all the stuff and on the way to Durbs we were at 9:00pm on Friday Night. The roads were quite full, full of trucks and useless drivers and all I had for proper entertainment was MXit and my lovely iPod Video (which I just used to listen to music).

Above: A miserable day at the beach, and how close the beach is from the appartment!

Arrived in Durban 2:30am and still had to drive all the way to our Holiday Appartment in Umdhloti (half way between Umhlanga Rocks and Ballito). Anyways arrived there, unpacked and it was already 3:00am in the morning! The time I went to bed it was 4:30am and it was getting somewhat bright outside. Anyways slept to 4:00pm the next day (hey I love my sleep!)

Did nothing that day besides get into a misunderstanding with a close friend of mine and crossed the road and went to the beach. The tide was high so just walked along the beach listening to some music! Oh how it feels great to be back in Durban, the smell of the sea, the ... emmm, yea that's about the only positive thing. On the downside I had to battle heat, discomfort, humidity, sticky weather and major heat at 3:00am in the MORNING!!! How ridiculous is that! Was so tempted to sleep in the lounge with the Air Conditioning but slept on top on the covers, bare minimum and open windows and a fan- and still I felt hot! I was lukcy enough that the next two days (yesterday and today) was good cloudy cool weather! God how am I going to survive Summer here?!

Above: Where im blogging from and the view!

Anyways yesterday was on the beach till after 8:00pm and was great! Met a few good people and checked out the scene since I'd be here for a while! Anyways was planning to head down to the beach again today and actually got up early and after I organised my self got dressed ate etc I saw that it was raining! Ah crap!!! So I watched something i PVRed, organised my MXit contcts into groups... what a mission! I didnt realise I had so many contacts- delete, delete delete! And now im just listening to some music. Right now what's playing? (Creed- Six Feet From the Edge) which reminds me of my friend who got married on Thursday (Congrats and all the best bud!!). Anyways right now im sitting on this seat thingy looking out at the sea. It's drizzeling yet the sea looks so mighty powerful. Have taken a pic so you can see where I'm sitting! I can actually smell the ocean from here, hear the waves crashing. It's quite beautiful. Took some random pics of the ocean in all it's Greyness... Describes the kind of day I had yesterday!

Oh and Happy Christmas Eve!

Slaying my Heart with Peoms of Love

It rains softly outside my window,
like the angels cry with me.
They too have felt my pain for love i cannot have
but somehow in the darkness there is a light
a small and fragile light that shines
the light that one day will set me free
but for now cannot be touched or embraced...
that light is you

Where love lies, my heart fears to go.
It's darkening edges surround me and tears can't help but fall.
It's claws keep me in a deathening grip of sorrow and pain...
Please come my ONE, and relieve me...
Set me free...
Come and hold me tight again!

Understand Love, Life and All About YOU

Today's Random Thought Is Wierd But It's Inspired By Someone Close To Me. It starts with a poem and then some scary but true words!

YOU:
Thinking of you, not closer
And thinking of you not further
Thinking you, where you are,
Because there you are real.

Thinking you, not older,
And thinking you, not younger,
Not taller, not smaller,
Not hotter, and not cooler.

Thinking you and longing for you,
Wanting to see you,
And loving you
Like you really are
-Erich Fried

THOUGHT'S FOR THE DAY:
The tough thing about following your heart is what people forget tomention. That sometimes your heart takes you to places you shouldn't be. Places that are as scary as they are exciting, and as dangerous as they are alluring. And sometimes your heart takes you to places that can never lead to a happy ending.... And that's not even the difficult part. The difficult part is when you follow your heart, you leave normal, you go into the unknown. And once you do, you can never go back. Have you ever had a moment when you're with the one person in the world you want to be with and the wind is blowing through your hair and the song that just describes your entire soul happens to be come on, and then the person that you want to be with happens to love the same song and suddenly you realise you're listening to it together? And no matter how crazy your life has gotten there's this one moment..... this perfect moment.... where you could just say that no matter what happens, nothing can take this moment away from me.

It's funny how the world changes some how, how the streets you walked your entire life, seem darker, colder. How the silence isn't so quiet anymore. How eyes you've barely even noticed, now look at nothing but you. How the walk home every night is no longer a routine, but a victory. And then you begin to wonder... maybe it's not the world that's changed. Maybe its just you. And then, suddenly...you begin to wonder all over again.
The future was always so clear to me. A straight path towards my goal. I just never counted on there being any intersections. I guess that's what makes life more interesting. Keeping yourself open, letting new people in, changing your mind.

Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift. When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we didnt see the one which has been opened for us.

The best kind of friend is the one you can sit on a porch and swing with, even without a single word you will feel, it was the best conversation you've ever had.

It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we been missing until it arrives. Giving someone all your love is never anassurance that they'll love you back! Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart but if it doesn't; let love remain in you!

All I Want For Christmas

It's that time of the year, yes Christmas is only one week away, 6 sleeps to be exact! And I still don't know exactly what I want for Christmas. We'll whilst shopping here's two thing's I'd love to see wrapped up under my Christmas tree!!

CHARMED DVD'S

Season 7 of Charmed recently was released here in SA (although not in the picture). I have been patiently waiting for Season 8 to be released so that they can release Charmed: The Entire Collection. That would make the perfect collection, but unfortunetly this could only be happening next year, so for now I would like Charmed Season 3, 4 and 5 on DVD. The picture, which I snapped at Look & Listen last night is of Season 2, 5, and 6.

Apple MacBook
I have always have this secrect love for the Apple MacBooks and considered buying one, but opted for a new Acer a couple of months back. However everywhere I turn there's a Mac convention showcasing all the great features of MacBooks. The black MacBook (which cost R13,995) has suddenly become more appealing and sexy with it's sleek and defined look. Someone please bless me with one!!

Spotted: Idols' Jacques

SPOTTED: Idol's Contestant Jacques Does Lunch
Wednesday 13 December, 01:35PM; Atholl - Sandton

Woa! Twice in one month! Must be luck! This is the second reality star I have met. I met Gareth, Lezel and Brigitte earlier (Survivor SA) and now I met former Idols Contestant Jacques Terre'blanche at Tasha's in Atholl Sandton the other day whilst having lunch!

Jacques for those of you who do not watch Idols (as myself) was a
third runner up in the latest Idol Season (2005). I didn't recognise him and my cousin actually did. Infact she had seen him in the YOU Magazine earlie that day!

Jacques was spotted having lunch amoungst a large group of friends, although primarily engaged in conversation with his photographer friend who at time snapped up pics of him and his girlfriend. It was a casual lunch and no one seem to know that it was Jacques so with the power of zoom and from a distant, I
snapped him up.

Random Thought

UNDERSTANDING PEOPLE:
People are complicated creatures. they are able to perform great acts of charity. On the other, capable of the most underhanded forms of betrayal. It's a constant battle that rages within us, between the better angels of our nature, and the temptation of our inner demons. And sometimes, the only way to ward off the darkness; Is to shine the light of compassion'.

Movie Reviews: Theatrical Releases

I have been the movies alot lately and thought I'd give you a quick review about what's showing in your nearest Cinema's!

The Holiday
Despite being separated by the Atlantic Ocean, Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Iris (Kate Winslet) share the same dilemma: they've both been disappointed by their significant others, Ethan (Edward Burns) and Jasper (Rufus Sewell), and are now facing a dull Christmas in isolation.
After they meet online, however, they decide to join forces and give each other a hand. They will swap houses and lives for the holidays, hoping new experiences will result in less glum holiday depression. Amanda, a Los Angeles resident, will stay at Iris' home in rural England and Iris will live in Amanda's home in the States. While on holiday, each meets a new lover: Amanda falls for dashing Graham (Jude Law), while Iris finds herself attracted to quirky Miles (Jack Black). But where does the magic of the holiday end and the reality of real life begin?

My Review:
Bit of a weak movie and not what I expected to be. Rather a romantic comedy, and key word on romantic. There are few laughs, and the plot moves very slow, but still and enjoyable move. Light and predictable. Just what we need for the holidays?
My Rating: 7/10

Borat
The film involves Borat leaving his home in Kazakhstan to go to the "U.S. and A." and record a documentary at the behest of the fictitious Kazakh Ministry of Information. He leaves behind his mother, wife, and the town rapist, bringing along his obese producer Azamat Bagatov (Ken Davitian). Much of the movie from this point on features unstaged vignettes of Borat interviewing and interacting with Americans who believe he is an actual foreign TV personality with no understanding of American customs.

My Review:
The most hilarious movie of all time! If you haven't seen it, go and see it NOW! It's better to watch it in the cinema and laugh amoungs the people! Its amazing, because I've never been to a movie where everybody laugh's so much and so hard. No matter how down you are or whatever, Borat will make you laught the sh!t out of you!!

My Rating: 11/10

Casino Royale (007)
In his first mission, James Bond must stop Le Chiffre, a corrupt banker, from winning a high-stakes poker tournament and using the prize money to pay back threatening terrorists who lost money because of Le Chiffre.
My Review:
I'm no James Bond fan, however you gotta give the movie credit for pulling of the awesome stunts without the overuse of SFX. Infact the first few scene's alone are brilliant! On a whole the movie is great, a bit drawn out, especially when (at three parts of the movie this happened) they resolved everything and it seemed like it was ending, when next thing a new storyline was presented! Daniel Craig's first apperance as Blonde 007, err i mean Bond 007! Soon you forget about Bronson and Connery and the other 100 guys that played the role and. One good thing about Daniel Craig's role is that the movie goes 'back to basics' and Bond isn't super hero, rather human with a few good tricks up his sleeve!! One thing is the producers should have cast Julian McMahon (Cole in Charmed) in the role rather

Pulse
Imagine our wireless technologies made a connection to a world beyond our own. Imagine that world used that technology as a doorway into ours. Now, imagine the connection we made can't be shut down. When you turn on your cell phone or log on to your e-mail, they'll get in, you'll be infected and they'll be able to take from you what they don't have anymore -- life.
My Review:
Certainly not your average horror. The film is an okay movie, production-wise the cinemetography is brilliant. The storyline jumps and is rather random at times and relies on the viewer having to put it together and work it out. The SFX are substantially good and the ghosts are fearful, but the death scene's need to be reworked. Kirsten Bell (Veronica Mars) pulls of a good job. The ending... we'll it's not your average horror ending, but can be understood why it ends like that!
My Rating: 7.5/10

Friends with Money
Olivia (Jennifer Aniston) is a single, cash-strapped woman working as a maid in Los Angeles in order to make ends meet. [Big Understatement!] She is surrounded by a support network of well-off friends consisting of Franny (Joan Cusack), Christine (Catherine Keener), Jane (Frances McDormand), and each of their respective husbands. While the disparity in financial situations between Olivia and her friends creates some friction, each woman is facing her own individual struggles. Olivia can't seem to find love or money and resorts to questionable tactics to satisfy both. Franny's inherited money sometimes causes tension between her and her husband who likes to spend it. Christine's marriage is falling apart due to the inability of her and her husband to communicate effectively. Finally, Jane's attitude is becoming increasingly caustic. Together, these women attend charity benefits, have lunch, lean on each other, and wade their way through this slice of life.
My Review:
It's Desperate Housewives in the cinema. Because that's the feeling that I get. There is not satire, comedy, or some mystery, and heck you dont even get the sex appeal that Eva Longoria (Gabrielle on Desperate Housewives) adds to the show, the only slight sex appeal is Jennifer Aniston's maid/sex thing which is wierd. The movie is mis-titled and it does only contribute to a slight part of the story, but its just a small angle the movie is taking to present the lives of these four women, who aren't happy with thier lives. Unlike most movies, there is no resolution or conclusion. Are the writer's trying to tell us that Happily Ever After doesn't exist? Well it was probally the best thing about the movie!
My Rating: 5/10
